The Girls Varsity Bowling team headed into Northway Lanes in Muskegon on Saturday trying to capture yet another tournament win, with 17 other teams all vying for the same goal. The day started well as they led the field after the first two games but Caledonia took over the top spot after game three and held that going into match play. As the number two seed, Rockford faced off against Unity Christian in round one and came away with a 357-294 victory. Round two we faced off against friends in Mona Shores. The Lady Rams jumped off to a 19 pin advantage after game one and held off a fierce charge by Mona Shores to take the win 312-278 and advance to the finals. The number one seed Caledonia was waiting for us there. After jumping off to a 41 pin lead in game one, the ladies faltered at the start of game two and allowed Caledonia back into the match. However, a clutch strike from October Bishop in the seventh frame, coming in off the bench no less, helped bring back the energy and the ladies closed strong to win the match and take home the title 322-294. All Tournament Team honors went to Sophia DeLuccia (1st), Kristen Chapman (4th) and Kyla Chapman (8th). This was a team win as everyone contributed in some way. This was a nice confidence boost after coming off the conference loss on Wednesday and hopefully propels the team for the conference schedule that kick back in on Monday against EAst Kentwood.
