The Rockford ladies bowling team participated in the Ram Invitational at Rockford Lanes on Saturday with eight other teams looking to take home the title. The girls started strong taking the lead after the first team game, thanks to a great 202 game by Junior October Bishop, her high game ever. Game two was enough to keep us in the lead but not by much over a tough Three Rivers team. After the first two rounds of Baker games the ladies held the lead but in the third round Three Rivers took that lead away. In the fourth and final round of baker games, the ladies took control as they shot the best set of the day shooting 18- and 224 to retake the top spot going into the match play. Match play was two baker games with the highest total score advancing. Rockford faced off against the number four seed Northview in round one and came away with a 283-226 win. In the finals, it was that team from Three Rivers waiting for us. Rockford took a 14 pin lead after game one but Three Rivers was not going away easily. After four frames into game two, Three Rivers had erased that 14 pin lead and was looking to take control. However, the Rockford ladies put on a strong finish with Junior Kyla Chapman throwing two strikes in the tenth frame to seal the win for Rockford. Three of our players made the all tournament team with Junior Sofia DeLuccia placing second, Junior October Bishop was third and Junior Kyla Chapman took fifth. Congratulations to all the girls on this win. Next up we are back to conference play with an away match against East Kentwood on Monday at Spectrum Lanes and our final home meet of the season on Wednesday against Hudsonville. Wednesday will also be Senior Night for the boys team, the girls don't have a senior this year.
