The Rockford Ladies Bowling team went into Sherman Bowling Center on Thursday to defend their two-time Regional title as the number one ranked team in the D1 Girls rankings for Michigan. It did not start the way we had hoped because after the first four baker games the ladies trailed the leader by nearly 100 pins. However, the ladies found another gear and the team started to make its comeback. By the end of the eight baker games the ladies had pulled to within 12 pins of the lead and with their strength, team games, coming up the hope was high. Team games started strong and the girls all pulled together to shoot a 917 game one that bolted them into first place with one team game to go. The girls continued to fire on all cylinders as they posted a 872 game two to stretch their lead to 194 pins and take home the D1 Region 1 title for the third year in a row. The team was led by Junior Sofia DeLuccia who shot 238 & 223 while Junior Kyla Chapman chipped in 187 & 201. Sophomore Kristen Chapman added a 192 in game one while Alyx Niedermayer and October Bishop did their part to ensure a team win. Now it is off to the State Finals at Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park on March 1st & 2nd. Let's work to improve on our third place finish from last season.
