The Rams got things going early in this game scoring the first 3 goals in less than 2 minutes. Forest Hills won the opening draw but the Rams created a quick turnover. The Rams transitioned down the field and before Forest Hills could set up on defense, Kiah Kruisenga found a streaking Ella Larva who scored to put the Rams up 1-0. The Rams didn't waste much time on the next draw as Brooke Gordon picked up the loose ball and sent a long ball to a wide-open Ava Wekenman who proceeded to fire the shot past the Forest Hills Goalie. The Rams continued to rapid start to this game when Larva picked up the ensuing draw, raced down the field and created a foul inside the 8 resulting in a free position. She placed a perfectly placed shot into the top right corner to put the Rams up 3-0. Forest Hills would not quit and came down on the next possession and found the back of the net on a free position shot tightening the lead to 3-1. The Rams would go on to score the next 4 goals to open a 7-1 lead with 5 minutes left in the 1st quarter. Brooke Gordon would add two goals and Larva and Wekenman would each add one more goal apiece. The teams would trade two goals apiece, with Gordon and Wekenman finding the back of the net, to end out the 1st quarter with the Rams leading 9-3. Forest Hills came out in the 2nd quarter trying to claw back into the game cutting the lead to just 5 but the Rams would score 3 more goals to extend the lead to 12-4 on goals by Avery Maag and Wekenman adding her fourth and fifth goals of the game. Forest Hills would score a goal in the final seconds of the first half to cut the lead to 12-5. That is the only goals Forest Hills would score as the Rams defense shut them out in the 2nd half. The Rams defense led by Juniors Lyla Vogt and Payton Davis made it very difficult for the Forest Hills attackers to get off any good shots. Goalie Mia Mabry had another outstanding game in the net to really clamp down on any scoring opportunities. The Rams would score 3 more goals in the 3rd quarter. Ella Wagenmaker would notch her first goal of the contest and Larva and Gordon each added one more to their totals for the game. With the Rams leading 15-5, this initiated a running clock. Wagenmaker would add the only goal of the 4th quarter on a nice assist from Wekenman. Leading scorers for the game were Ava Wekenman (5g, 2a) and Brooke Gordon (4g,3a) with 7 points, Ella Larva (4g,1a) 5 points, Ella Wagenmaker (2g,1a) 3 points, and Avery Maag (1g), Kiah Kruisenga (1a) and Jordyn Coretti (1a) each with a point apiece. The Rams return to action Friday for Teacher Appreciation night, on the HARV, against another tough conference foe, Spring Lake Lakers. Then return to play a doubleheader on Saturday inside Carlson Munger Stadium against a top Illinois team, St. Ignatius followed by Michigan powerhouse, the Brighton Bulldogs. It will Youth Day during the Brighton game. We look forward to seeing all our young female lacrosse players cheering us.
