Third-Inning Spurt Lead Rockford Freshman Rams Past West Ottawa In 3rd Game Of Series

Rockford Freshman Rams defeated West Ottawa 15-0 on Thursday thanks in part to eight runs in the third inning. Connor laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run, Sullivan singled, scoring one run, Knauf drew a walk, scoring one run, Karnowski doubled, scoring two runs, Knauf scored after tagging up, Clements doubled, scoring one run, and Bsharah drew a walk, scoring one run. Rockford Freshman Rams got on the board in the top of the second inning after Bsharah grounded out, scoring one run, Longcore drew a walk, scoring one run, Knauf grounded out, scoring one run, and Simons singled, scoring two runs. Miller stepped on the hill first for Rockford Freshman Rams. The starter gave up one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Zwyghuizen started on the hill for West Ottawa. The hurler allowed three hits and nine runs (eight earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out one and walking seven. Schuler pitched two innings of scoreless ball for Rockford Freshman Rams in relief. The lefty gave up one hit, striking out seven and walking none. Simons provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Rockford Freshman Rams with three runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Number eight hitter, Sullivan, showed the depth of Rockford Freshman Rams's lineup, by leading them with two hits in two at bats. Rockford Freshman Rams had patience at the plate, piling up 15 walks for the game. Bsharah, Karnowski, Longcore, Thompson-Boughner, and Sullivan led the team with two free passes each. Clements stole two bases. Rockford Freshman Rams were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Karnowski made the most plays with 10.
