The Rockford Rams girls varsity tennis team delivered more than just strong results this week they delivered a celebration of commitment, leadership, and legacy. In a match defined by gratitude and high stakes, the Rams hosted Caledonia on Senior Night, honoring six seniors whose dedication and sacrifice have helped shape the program. Alongside them, their parents were recognized for years of unwavering support an often unseen but essential part of the team’s success. The atmosphere reflected both appreciation and urgency, as the matchup carried important regional seeding implications against a tough and feisty Caledonia squad. From the opening serve, it was clear the Scots would not go quietly. The match featured multiple tight sets and gritty three set battles that tested both depth and resilience. At #1 singles, Grace Ferry battled through a rollercoaster match, ultimately securing a hard fought 6-1, 5-7, 10-5 victory. Despite falling in a pair of tight three set matches at #2 and #3 doubles, the Rams’ overall depth proved decisive, earning a 7-2 team victory. In singles, the Rams continued their dominance. Grace Ferry controlled her match at #1 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 win. Sophie Burns once again showed her experience and grit, battling back after dropping the first set to win 5-7, 6-4, 7-5 in one of the most thrilling matches of the day. Ella Fix and Lilly Bajema remained consistent forces, each earning convincing straight set wins. Doubles play saw strong responses after early setbacks. Although Rockford dropped the top two doubles flights, the team regrouped with impressive performances across the rest of the lineup. Evian Lund and Addyson Schad secured a key 6-2, 7-5 win at #3 doubles, while Rosebery and Elizondo continued their strong play with another 6-2, 6-2 victory at #4. Coyle and Schwander remained steady at #5 doubles, closing out another win to help seal the team result. With back to back 7-2 victories, Rockford heads into the conference tournament with confidence, momentum, and a clear sense of purpose.
