The Varsity Boys water polo team took the weekend to travel to Ann Arbor to play some of the best from the East Side of the state and some out of state competition. The rams began the weekend playing the 2 time state champs from Ohio (St Charles) and fell short of a victory by falling 17-6 in the Match. The Rams couldn't stop the offensive threat of Pierce Bateman who scored 9 goals on the Rams but did a great job learning from this game and finding different rotations for the team moving forward. Th Rams played a second game Friday night against a Saline/Skyline team who is in little bit of a rebuild year after making the state tournament last season for the firs time in school history. The rams came out swinging and tallied up 12 goals to win the match 12-5 while all the boys played great. We had great defense and found the back of the net when we had good shot opportunities. After a long Friday night the rams had 3 games on Saturday at Ann Arbor Skyline. The Rams started of the day of early with a stellar performance against Birmingham Groves by winning 16-1. Multiple players found the back of the net and our goalies played exceptionally well only allowing 1 into the cage. After the boys refueled the Rams faced an extremely quick and physical Thomas Worthington team from Ohio. This game was a back and forth battle from the first whistle all the way to the end of the match. The rams fought off the Cards with a victory winning 7-6 over a talented team. For the final match of the weekend the Rams faced The Rats of Ann Arbor Huron. The rams jumped out quickly to a lead and never looked back. Many individuals scored and the rams had stellar defense on the River Rats. THe rams finished the game winning 13-3. The rams finished the weekend going 4-1 overall and learning many things we need to focus on before we hit conferenced play in a few weeks. The rams are off from competition this week due to the holiday and the beginning of school. Next up the rams will head to Grand Haven for a tournament on September 5-6
