Varsity comes up short in a big conference game versus East Grand Rapids. The Rams held EGR to a scoreless first quarter despite being under attack much of the quarter. The Rams came out strong in the 2nd quarter but it was EGR who scored first event though the Rams were playing much better. The Pioneers went into the half up 1-0 but the Rams felt good that they could tie things up. The 3rd quarter started out good again for the Rams but they just could not capitalize on their opportunities. Unfortunately, the Pioneers were able to get one past and go up 2-0. The Rams would respond when Maddie Rock hit a beautiful shot which beat the EGR goal keeper closing the score to 2-1 EGR. The 4th quarter was intense and the Rams had a couple of fast breaks and really good scoring opportunities but were unable to tie the game. The Rams dropped this one 2-1 to East Grand Rapids. The Varsity squad returns to action Saturday when they travel to Chelsea to take on the defending state champions.
