The Varsity Field Hockey team came out strong and continued strong teamwork in the first quarter. Avery Maag put the Rams up 1-0 on a nice feed from Maggie Huber. Pinckney fought hard in the first quarter as well sending a few overhead passes which got behind the Ram defense and challenged goalie Jordin Woods. Woods was up to the challenge making several key stops to keep it a one goal lead. Both teams traded blows in the second quarter but neither team could muster up a goal. The Rams took a 1-0 lead into halftime. The Rams would extend the lead in the 3rd quarter when Maddie Rock tallied a goal off a nice hit just inside the offensive circle. The Rams continued to carry the play in the second half. Avery Maag was able to score her second goal of the game in the 4th quarter to put the Rams up 3-0. The Pirates of Pinckney managed to score a goal late in the game to close the gap, but Rockford would prevail 3-1. Goalie Jordin Woods had a terrific game recording 8 saves on the evening. The Rams now await their Playoff selection this Friday. The Rams will be hosting the Regionals so come out and cheer on the team as they look to have a successful post season.
