The Rockford Varsity Polo team had spectacular weekend in the District tournament. The boys started off the tournament with facing the Baguettes of Mason. In this game the rams came out firing right away and quickly were up 5-0 in a short matter of minutes. The rams never looked back and continued to excel all the way until the final whistle. The rams took the win in the game 17-5 and all 25 of the athletes touched the water at some pint and time during the game. This victory put the rams into the district championship against the Pioneers of East Grand Rapids who we had lost to earlier in the season. For the championship game against the pioneers the rams knew this game was going to be a challenge as EGR is an extremely strong team and quick. Before the game the rams had a team chat to talk over game plans so everyone was on the same page. Once the first whistle blew the game was on. Them rams struck first which built the momentum for the entire game. After the rams scored a second goal quickly after the first the Pioneers had to call a timeout to regroup. The rams held steadfast and maintained poised for the entire game. The rams excelled on the defensive side of the ball and only allowed EGR to score 3 times and that was all in the 1st half. The rams held them scoreless for the entire second half. once the second half began the rams continued to score and put on a spectacular display of defense. Once the final whistle sounded the rams and won the game 9-3 which was al all around team effort. This win gives the rams the #1 seed in our district and they will face the #4 seed (West Ottawa Panthers) in the first game of the regional tournament. This game will be played on Halloween at EGR at 4:00 PM. If the rams win they will be guaranteed a spot in the state tournament which will be 2 weeks later.
